Clinical Work in Turbulent Times:
An In-Person Case Consultation Group with a Social Lens

Our world, and our field specifically, are undergoing rapid changes. In so many ways, these times challenge our capacities to think, to know ourselves, to find belonging, and to navigate clinical work. However, in the midst of uncertainty, we can help one another find possibility and inspiration in our work and in the world.

I am offering a 9 month, biweekly case consultation group for clinicians seeking to deepen their work at this time. Much of our focus will be on clinical material; we will explore how multiple influences—past and present, personal and collective—may be shaping the dynamics of each case and of our group’s responses to it. We will also make space for exploration of group members’ broader questions, experiences and dilemmas around their work during these “turbulent times”. Together, we can listen for what emerges from us as a group and learn from it.

Group Structure

My Background
My approach has been shaped by over 20 years of engagement in psychoanalytic consultative relationships, including clinical consultation groups. Within these spaces, Winnicott, Klein, and relational thinkers have been core influences, along with psychoanalytic thinkers on race. But other frames are crucial to me as well. These include learning and personal work on race, gender, queerness, culture, history, and ancestry, accounting for my positionality as a white, U.S. born, straight-presenting, Gen X, cis woman. They also include decades of Buddhist study and practice. Finally, training and experiences in psychoanalytically-informed organization development, group facilitation, systems thinking, climate psychology, couples and family therapy, community development, and creative expression have shaped how I see my work at this time, as well as possibilities for our collective futures.
